Santa Rita Elementary Weekly Newsletter

Week of March 9-14, 2026

Happy Sunday, Hummingbird Families!
We have some incredibly exciting news to share as we head into this new week!

Please join us in giving a huge shout-out to Ms. Rochin, who has been nominated and officially named the Santa Rita Union School District Teacher of the Year! We are so incredibly proud to have one of our very own Hummingbirds receive this prestigious award. Her dedication to our students is truly inspiring!
Additionally, we want to share what an amazing turnout we had for CBDIO’s Carnaval this past Friday! It was a beautiful celebration for our Mixtec families, and we were so proud to see our students showcase their culture through such wonderful performances.

Important Testing This Week
This is a big week for showing what we know! We will be conducting DIBELS diagnostics for all grade levels. Additionally, our 1st-grade students will be taking their Summative ELPAC assessments. Please ensure your students get a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast so they can perform their best.

Yearbooks & 5th Grade Memoirs
Don’t miss out on capturing this year’s memories! Yearbooks are still on sale, and you can also purchase a special Yearbook Memoir for your 5th grader to celebrate their promotion.
  • March 20th: Final deadline to purchase 5th Grade Memoirs.
  • April 17th: Final deadline for all Yearbook purchases.

💼 Career Day Update (Extension!)
We are still hard at work planning an amazing Career Day for our students. We have decided to extend the deadline for volunteers! If you are interested in sharing your profession with our Hummingbirds, please reach out to Ms. Garcia by Friday, March 13th.

Thank you for your continued support and for making Santa Rita such a wonderful place to learn!

Warmly,
Ms, K & Mrs. Zavala
