Happy Sunday Santa Rita!

What an incredible week we had! From our successful Career Day to our wonderful Día del Niño celebration, it was a joy to see our students so engaged and happy. Please be sure to scroll to the end of this newsletter for more photos and details from our recent events.

🍎 Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our teachers go above and beyond every day for our Hummingbirds, and now is the perfect time to show them some love. We encourage students and families to celebrate our amazing staff with kind gestures—whether it’s a handmade card, a thoughtful note, or a small token of thanks. See our recommendations below for ways to participate!

📈 Final i-Ready Diagnostics

Starting this week, students will begin their final i-Ready diagnostic of the year. This is a great opportunity for students to show how much they’ve grown! We are especially excited to celebrate those who meet their "Stretch Growth" goals at our end-of-year celebration.

🗓️ A Busy Month Ahead

May is always a busy month as we wrap up the school year. Please keep a close eye on messages from your child’s teacher regarding specific classroom activities, end-of-year projects, or ways you can support their final weeks of learning.

🗓️ Important Upcoming Dates:

Monday May 4: Town Hall meeting #4 at Gavilan View!! Join the district for our final Town Hall meeting of the school year beginning from 5-7:30pm.

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 4-May 8 is Teacher Appreciation Week!

Our teachers work tirelessly to support, inspire, and grow our students every day. To celebrate them, we’ve put together a week of simple, optional gestures to show our gratitude. Please know that the most valuable gift a teacher can receive is a kind word or a thoughtful moment of recognition. We have designed this schedule so that every student can participate regardless of budget. However, if your family would like to send in a small gift, classroom supply, or gift card alongside the daily theme, please feel free to do so!

Our goal is simply to shower our educators with the appreciation they deserve.

CBDIO Mother's Day Celebration

CBDIO is hosting a Mother's Day Celebration for the Mixtec community at Santa Rita Elementary. All are welcome to join.

Friday May 8 from 4:30-7:00 in the Santa Rita Cafeteria.

Join SRUSD and Artist Ink in a celebration of the creative labor of the Santa Rita Community.

🍎 Celebrating Our School Lunch Heroes!

A huge "Thank You" to the incredible team in our cafeteria! Our School Lunch Heroes do so much more than prepare meals—they fuel our students' bodies and minds every single day with kindness and a smile.

From managing nutrition standards to making sure every child is fed and cared for, they are a vital part of the Santa Rita family. We are so grateful for their hard work, their dedication to our students’ health, and the positive energy they bring to our campus.

💼 Career Day Success!

A massive thank you to our wonderful school counselor and our dedicated Student Leadership Team for organizing such an inspiring Career Day! It was an incredible success, with over 20 presenters visiting our campus to share their professional journeys with our students.

We also want to give a special shout-out to the Student Leadership Team for their initiative in reaching out to local sponsors to secure a delicious breakfast and lunch for our guests. The event was truly amazing, and our students walked away with big dreams and new perspectives. Thank you for making this first-time event a day to remember!

❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You!

We want to send a huge thank you to our amazing families for the overwhelming generosity and treats donated for our Día del Niño celebration! Thanks to your kindness, every single student received a bag of snacks to enjoy.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the parent volunteers who spent their time organizing, packing, and running the activities. Seeing the smiles on the students' faces made it all worth it—the kids had a truly wonderful time! We couldn't have done it without our incredible Santa Rita village.
