Happy Sunday Hummingbird Families,

Welcome to another week at Santa Rita! We hope you all had a restful weekend. As we wrap up August, we are gearing up for an incredible month ahead packed with learning, celebration, and family partnership.

Here is a look at what is coming up in September:

Attendance Awareness Month: Showing up on time every single day is essential for student success! To celebrate, every class that achieves 100% attendance during September will win a Popsicle Party!
Hispanic Heritage Month: We are excited to honor the rich cultures and traditions in our community! Stay tuned for details on our "Fiesta of Cultures" Spirit Week coming up in mid-September.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: The final week of September is dedicated to parent-teacher conferences. Please be on the lookout for sign-up information from your child’s teacher so we can connect on their progress.

🧥 Lost & Found Reminder

Our Lost & Found is filling up! Please stop by to check for any missing jackets, water bottles, or lunchboxes.

To help us keep items out of the Lost & Found:

Label everything: Write your child's name on jacket tags, lunchboxes and water bottles.
Remind your scholar: Ask your child to grab their jacket and belongings every time recess finishes.

Family Engagement

💬 Hummingbird Home Connection

To help build your child's speaking and vocabulary skills at home, try asking them this week's conversation starter:

Family Talk Prompt: "At school, we learn how to show respect and handle problems with friends peacefully. Can you tell me about a time recently when you or a friend had a problem, and how you worked together to solve it?"

Tip: Encourage your scholar to describe the situation using full sentences and feeling words (like "I felt...", "We listened by...", or "We solved it by...") to help practice their expressive language skills!

Volunteers & Chaperones

If you are interested in volunteering or chaperoning this school year, please make sure to register through RAPTOR for clearance. Visit the District website and complete all the steps to volunteer.

Safety & Wellness

🆔 Safety First: Photo ID Reminder

To keep our campus secure, all parents and guardians must have a government-issued photo ID available when picking up students during the school day and from our after-school program.

While our front office staff may not ask to check your ID every single time once they become familiar with your family, a photo ID will always be required for after-school pick-ups. We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to keep every student on our campus safe!

🚗 Parking Lot Safety & Expectations

Thank you so much to our families for doing a fantastic job with morning drop-off and afternoon pick up! Your patience and cooperation make a huge difference. Please continue following our 3-lane rules during drop off, one lane rule during pick up and our safety guidelines to keep traffic flowing safely, smoothly, and efficiently for everyone:

Express Unload (Row 1): For independent students only; drivers must stay in the car.
Assisted Unload (Row 2): For quick drop-offs where parents need to step out briefly; do not leave cars unattended.
Park & Walk (Row 3): Park in a designated spot if you are walking your child to the entrance.
Safety Rules: Arrive early, follow staff and posted signs, and ensure children use marked crosswalks and sidewalks at all times.

Hummingbird Highlights

It was another incredible week at Santa Rita! Our scholars did a fantastic job putting their green habits into action by practicing how to sort food waste, recycling, and trash after meals and our classrooms are already buzzing with reading!

We loved seeing so many of our Hummingbird families at Back to School Night.

To wrap up a busy week, our students practiced safe bus evacuations and brought bright energy to campus as we tied everything together for our colorful Rainbow Day. What a wonderful week to be a Hummingbird!
